Give girls the option to wear pants to school

The Parenthood is proud to support the Girls' Uniform Agenda as they seek to change school for all girls! Skirts and dresses as a uniform restricts movement, keeps girls cold in winter, and means they do less exercise on non-sport days than if they were wearing shorts or pants. Let's get our girls moving and give them the same freedom that boys enjoy.

Dear School Principals

We support the Girls' Uniform Agenda!

Kids need to move! They need to be comfortable and able to engage in all aspects of school life, regardless of their gender. We're sure you know that when girls are wearing skirts or dresses, they exercise less than when they wear shorts and pants. We're sure you know that girls worry about accidentally flashing their undies when they're sitting cross-legged on the floor, and that they freeze in skirts on cold floors in winter. And we're sure you know that you open your school up to legal action because forcing one gender to wear a restrictive uniform is in contravention to anti-discrimination legislation.

We, the undersigned, ask that you ensure that the uniform policies of your school reflect modern day Australia and that you offer shorts or pants options for the girls that attend your school. Being comfortable only on sports days isn't good enough.
