Dear friends and supporters,

I'm thrilled to share that I've been invited to address the National and the Rural Press Club of Australia in Canberra on Wednesday, 29 November 2023. This is a unique opportunity for The Parenthood to amplify the voices of families across Australia and advocate for crucial issues like more affordable and accessible early childhood education and care, along with improved paid parental leave policies.

During my address, I want to shed light on the real stories of Australian families, and I invite you to share your parenting experiences with me. Your stories are powerful tools for change, illustrating the everyday challenges that families encounter. If you're interested in sharing your story, please get in touch via email ([email protected]) or via our socials.

Our recent polling, conducted by Essential Research, has uncovered some compelling insights into the challenges faced by Australian parents:
- 62% of parents with children under the age of six are struggling financially.
- Only three in 10 parents who use centre-based early learning find the costs easily manageable.
- The majority of parents (85%) believe that the cost of living necessitates both parents working.
- Six in 10 parents express that they or their partner would work different hours if childcare wasn't so expensive.

These results show why it's so important to keep pushing for change and better support for families. Speaking at the National and Rural Press Club in Canberra provides a platform to engage with decision-makers, ensuring our voice is heard in the corridors where impactful changes are made. Furthermore, the event's national broadcast on ABC News guarantees that our message will resonate in households across the entire country!
