Dear friends,
The longest year on record is, slowly, coming to an end. At least that's what I've heard! School's out, office shut-downs are imminent and hopefully there is at least a short break on the horizon.
I'd like to thank you for your ongoing support. The success of The Parenthood is based on the commitment of our 68.000 members and supporters and we wouldn’t be where we are without you.
Every year is different but 2020 has been particularly memorable - and especially challenging for lots of parents and carers. The pandemic has laid bare the urgent need to reform early childhood education and care to ensure it's affordable, accessible and supports the workforce.
We firmly believe that there is a real chance to change family policies in Australia for the better in 2021 and you can help us by supporting the Thrive By Five campaign.
The Parenthood has joined the Thrive by Five campaign – a community or parents, educators, business leaders, unions, health professionals, community organisation and economists, all calling on government to make the early learning and care system affordable, high quality and fully-resourced.
The CEO Thrive by Five, Jay Weatherill, is going to Parliament at the beginning of next year, and meeting with ministers and MPs to talk to them about the early learning and care system. You are an important part of this. As a supporter of The Parenthood, Jay is asking you to tell him what he should say to MPs and ministers when he meets with them.
Check out his message and click here to tell him what you would like him to say. It’s real stories about real experiences with the early learning and care that will have an impact on our leaders in Canberra.
Our member survey is still open and so far the 100s of responses have been fascinating. Have your say here!
It will help shape 2021 but for now I wish you and your families a well deserved break.
Enjoy the holiday season and I look forward to working with you in the new year.
Over and out,
Georgie
